Thank you for
the wonderful pictures of the 43rd Det.....I was the first female
soldier assigned to Alpha Battery in Thum in 1979. It was a
wonderful experience and sometimes a challenge, since I worked with
the infantry soldiers in the security section most of the time.
They had a hard time at the beginning accepting a female soldier,
but eventually they became like brothers to me. I had wonderful
friends there and many wonderful memories. It was nice to see the
pictures of the site and especially the barns I guarded so many
nights when the strong winds would set off the alarms. My name then
was Vaughda Murr, but afer I got divorced it was Vaughda Wooten
(still is) and I would love to get in touch with my friends from
that time. I did stay in the Army for 22 years and retired and now
teach JROTC in Kentucky. I worked on Nike Hercules, HAWK, and
Patriot systems before I retired. Thanks again for the site. 1SG (Ret) Vaughda Wooten wvaughda@hotmail.com |
